YVSF Recovered a Firearm After a Foot Chase in Dorchester

At about 7:12 PM, on Thursday, July 18, 2024, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Willie Greathouse, 27, of Dorchester, on firearm charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Geneva Avenue and Columbia Road when they observed two individuals arguing with another individual across the street. Officers observed that one of the individuals was dressed in jacket and pants despite the extreme heat.

Officers observed the individuals cross the street, and could see one of the suspect's pockets was weighed down by an unknown object. Officers observed the individual on his phone, and both attempted to make entrance into a nearby building. The individuals were unable to gain access to the building and continued to walk down Columbia Road.

Officers further observed one of the individuals to be constantly looking over his shoulder to make note of where officers were. As officers exited their cruiser to speak with the individuals, one of the suspects took off running in a full sprint.

Officers observed the suspect lifting the cover of a recycling barrel and place an unknown object inside of it and continued to run. Officers located a discarded firearm inside the recycling barrel and advised responding officers of the flight path of the suspect. Officers were able to locate the suspect on Columbia Road and placed him into handcuffs.

The firearm was later determined to be a Taurus G2C with one round in the chamber and nine rounds in the magazine. The magazine was also determined to be a large capacity feeding device.

Greathouse was placed under arrest and charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Unlawful Possession of a High Capacity Feeding Device, and Trespassing. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
