On July 27, 2024, at approximately 1:10 a.m., a suspicious Chrysler 300 was observed on Garry Street near the Winnipeg Police Service Headquarters. The driver began obnoxiously revving the vehicle's engine.

Officers approached the Chrysler 300 when the driver immediately took off at a high rate of speed southbound on Garry Street. Further efforts were made to contain and safely stop the vehicle; however, the driver continued to operate the vehicle erratically, disregarding public safety.

The driver was observed operating the vehicle unpredictably, going through red lights and making multiple unnecessary lane changes. High rates of speed were observed, upwards of 90km/h within the downtown area.

Due to the collaborative efforts of multiple units, including Downtown and East District General Patrol, the Tactical Support Team and the Canine Unit, the vehicle was spotted on St. Mary's Road and safely stopped near St. Michael Road and Pulberry Street.

Upon arrest, the driver was found to be in possession of a quantity of Methamphetamine.

Further investigation has determined that the vehicle was involved in an earlier erratic driving incident on July 26, 2024, on Pembina Highway.

Jason Charles REIMER, 49, has been charged with the following:

- Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance

- Flight While Pursued by a Peace Officer

- Possession of Scheduled Substance - Methamphetamine

He was detained in custody.
