Colusa County BOS Appoints Matthew Beauchamp as DA; Beauchamp Officially Sworn-In October 31st

(COLUSA, CA) November 4, 2024 - The Colusa County Board of Supervisors is pleased to announce the appointment of Matthew R. Beauchamp as Colusa County District Attorney. Mr. Beauchamp, who previously served as the Chief Deputy District Attorney, was sworn-in to the role on October 31st following District Attorney Brendan Farrell's recent appointment to the Colusa County Superior Court.

"Mr. Beauchamp's knowledge of the community and the position, having previously served as District Attorney, make him the logical choice to serve Colusa County," said Supervisor Gary Evans, Chair of the Colusa County Board of Supervisors. "The Board is confident that his leadership will provide consistency in the pursuit of justice in our community."

Mr. Beauchamp brings over 39 years of legal experience to the position, including a strong record in prosecution and office management. His extensive background includes handling complex criminal cases, such as felony homicide and manslaughter, as well as overseeing asset forfeiture and wildlife-related cases. He has been recognized by the California District Attorneys Association as the California Fish and Wildlife Prosecutor of the Year.

Prior to his tenure with the Colusa County District Attorney's Office, Mr. Beauchamp practiced law privately for 16 years, focusing primarily on defense litigation, with additional experience in civil matters, asset forfeiture, and personal injury cases. His experience managing both private practice and public office budgets equips him with a robust skill set in administration, supervision, and fiscal responsibility.

In expressing his interest in the role, Mr. Beauchamp emphasized his commitment to maintaining strong partnerships with law enforcement and his dedication to the citizens of Colusa County. "I am honored by the trust placed in me by the Board of Supervisors and look forward to continuing to serve this community with integrity and dedication," he stated.

Mr. Beauchamp received a letter of support from City of Colusa Police Chief Joshua Fitch, and officially assumed his new responsibilities October 31, 2024, leading the District Attorney's Office in its mission to ensure the fair and effective administration of justice for all Colusa County residents.
