National Clean Up Day with Seattle Public Utilities

On September 21, also known as National Clean Up Day, Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) invites everyone to join one of four community clean up events held across the city. The four locations are Ballard Community Center (Ballard), Little Brook Park (Lake City), High Point Community Center (West Seattle), and Jefferson Park (Beacon Hill).

Ballard CC: 10am - 1pm
Little Brook: 9am - 12pm
High Point CC: 10am - 1pm
Jefferson Park: 9am - 12pm

Register for National Clean Up Day with SPU

At each location, SPU will be distributing clean up supplies and snacks to attendees, as well as providing educational resources on reducing stormwater pollution and information on the Adopt a Street/Adopt a Drain programs. SPU will be joined by other city departments and local organizations that will talk about environmental, sustainability, and community-building programs and resources they offer. So come on out and join us in keeping our communities clean and protecting the Puget Sound.

Why a community clean up?

With tens of thousands of streets and storm drains, SPU can't manage everything without the help of the people of Seattle. Any pollutants that start in our streets, such as litter, chemical spills, and even car leaks and dog waste, will end up in the Puget Sound.

Stormwater Pollution is the biggest local environmental threat - it poses a danger to many aquatic species like orca and salmon, and also to our neighbors that live close to water bodies like the Duwamish River and Lake Washington.
