What to do with hurricane debris

Pinellas County is reopening residential storm debris drop-off sites for unincorporated areas today following Hurricane Milton. These sites are only for unincorporated residents and identification is required. The sites are at 13600 Icot Boulevard in Clearwater, and at the corner of Keystone Road and East Lake Road in East Lake. They will accept debris daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. until further notice.

City residents should check with their respective municipality for more information. Each city is managing their own debris pickup program. If you live in a municipality, contact your city or town about the availability of storm debris pickup in your area. If you're not sure if your property is located within unincorporated Pinellas or within a city/municipality, use the interactive My Neighborhood Services tool at pinellas.gov/my-neighborhood to find out. The County is reaching out to HOAs and homeowners who live on private roads or gated communities to gain permission to pick up storm debris.

What is accepted at residential storm debris drop-off sites for unincorporated areas:

The following debris types will be accepted at the drop-off sites for unincorporated residents:

  • Vegetation (logs, plants, tree branches)
  • Construction and demolition debris (building materials, carpet, drywall, furniture, mattresses, plumbing, fencing, etc.)
  • Household appliances (air conditioners, dishwashers, refrigerators, washers and dryers, etc.)

The following items will NOT be accepted:

  • Electronics
  • Hazardous Waste (Household chemicals, Gasoline/Fuel, etc.)
  • Lithium-ion/rechargeable batteries

The sites are not open to commercial haulers. Go to pinellas.gov/where to learn how to dispose of these items.

The County is also working with its curbside residential debris contractor over the next several days to remove storm debris and hazards from unincorporated county roads following Hurricane Milton. As those operations subside, the County will resume its curbside residential debris pickup for unincorporated areas. Zones will be announced accordingly and posted on pinellas.gov/debris.
