Current Board Vacancies: Citizens’ Committee on Civic Unity, Family Policy Council, Human Rights Commission, Veterans Advisory Committee

Serving on a City of Cambridge board or commission can be a rewarding experience and an excellent way to contribute to our community. Board members also have the opportunity to participate in the City's decision-making process for a variety of topics. The City has some 80 boards and commissions with over 500 members.

Below is a listing of current vacancies:

Citizens' Committee on Civic Unity (Application Deadline 9-30-24)
The Citizens' Committee on Civic Unity works to provide opportunities for constructive discussions and community events regarding race, class, religion, gender, abilities, and sexual orientation by: recognizing and raising awareness of historic, existing, and potential civic issues; providing opportunities for honest dialogue and engagement; and by building bridges across communities to better understand and connect with one another.
Family Policy Council (Application Deadline 9-30-24)
The Family Policy Council, officially known as the Coordinating Council for Children, Youth and Families is dedicated to developing policy and program recommendations aimed at ensuring all children, youth and their families have access to what they need to be successful, engaged residents who are prepared for life in our community and in the world.

Human Rights Commission (Application Deadline 9-30-24)
Cambridge Human Rights Commission (CHRC) is dedicated to upholding and safeguarding the fundamental human rights of residents and visitors to the city. CHRC works to eradicate discrimination through an investigative process, proactive community outreach, and collaborations with City and community partners. CHRC aims to create an environment where people of diverse backgrounds can live without fear of discrimination based on the following protected classes: race; color; sex; age; religious creed; disability; national origin or ancestry; sexual orientation; gender identity or gender expression; marital status; family status; military status; and source of income.

Veterans Advisory Committee (Application Deadline 9-30-24)
The Advisory Committee will support the Department of Veterans Service in fulfilling its purpose to: Assist in providing information to persons who have served or are serving in the Armed Forces of the United States, and their families concerning their rights and privileges under federal, state, and local laws; Assist veterans in preparing for new entrepreneurial, employment, training and retraining opportunities for further education or employment; Encourage and support outreach and participation to veterans from underserved populations; Liaise with local businesses and organizations; Keep informed as to the programs or facilities of any organizations, of service to or of interest to veterans and their families.

A cover letter and resume or applicable experience can be submitted during the online application process.
