Ameren Transmission hosts open houses for public input on Northern Missouri Grid Transformation Program

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. (Aug. 19, 2024) - Ameren Transmission is working to build a more reliable and resilient energy grid and is hosting multiple public open houses the next two weeks to gather input from local stakeholders. The in-person open houses will take place in DeKalb, Daviess, Grundy, Sullivan, Randolph, Macon, Marion, Lewis, Adair and Knox counties.

The Northern Missouri Grid Transformation Program is preparing the grid for the future by replacing aging infrastructure, adding transmission capacity to ensure reliability and resiliency, and promoting more access to energy sources. Upgrading and investing in the energy delivery system benefits the entire community. This project is a joint effort with Ameren Transmission Company of Illinois (ATXI), Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission (MJMEUC) and Ameren Missouri.

The Northern Missouri Grid Transformation Program includes approximately 53 miles of new transmission line. It also includes a new substation and upgrades to existing Ameren substations. All projects within the Program are scheduled to be in service by mid-2028. More details are available at Ameren.com/NorthernMOGrid.

During each open house, the Northern Missouri Grid Transformation Program team will include project overview information and an opportunity to provide input on the route segments. There will be a general presentation during each meeting at 11:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. All open houses will include the same information with no formal presentation. There is also a self-paced, virtual engagement and comment map available online.

"We hope interested members of the public will join us to learn more about the project, ask questions and share their feedback so we can take into account any needs and concerns from the community," said Tracy Dencker, senior project manager for the Northern Missouri Grid Transformation Program. "We greatly value input from local stakeholders, and we use the information collected during these open houses in our planning and routing process."

Additional information is available on the project's website at Ameren.com/NorthernMOGrid, by sending an email to [email protected] or by calling the project hotline at 833.799.1633.
