Associate Julia Bennett-Jean led a team that included Partner Ty Doyle and Associates Bailey Bridges and Michael Palmer in a pro bono excessive force case that resulted in awards of more than $1.6 million for the plaintiff, a former inmate in the Texas state corrections system. This was highly unusual, as similar cases rarely get past summary judgment motions, and those that do usually result in four figure verdicts. Mark Hernandez v. Manuel Poveda, Jr., etal. was heard in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas - Houston Division.
