Protect your loved ones this Christmas - do the simple things

The festive season can be a busy time socialising with loved ones and visiting busy shops, bars and restaurants. With everything going on, it can be easy to forget the simple things that help prevent the spread of illness.

During the heigh of the COVID-19 pandemic, new behaviours became engrained in our everyday life and helped us stop passing on infections to others. Although the pandemic is over, infectious illnesses are still around and these include COVID-19 and seasonal flu.

Doing the simple things such as regular hand washing, sanitising surfaces and staying at home if you don't feel too well, will help prevent the spread of bugs and diseases.

Cllr Christine Bannon, Knowsley Council Cabinet Member for Health, said: "The festive season is a great time for seeing friends and family, but no one wants to be handed a nasty bug as a present.

"Doing the simple things can help make sure our loved ones and the local community are healthy and happy this Christmas."
