PennDOT Announces Start of Slide Repair Work in Juniata County

07/02/2024

Clearfield, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that slide repair work that will include a detour around the project site will begin in Turbett Township, Juniata County, on Monday, July 8. This work will improve safety and ride quality for motorists by resurfacing the roadway and extending the service life of the deteriorating surface.

Route 74 near Tower Lane will be closed. The detour will utilize Route 74 (Tuscarora Mountain Road), Route 22, and Route 17 (Raccoon Valley Road), routing traffic around the project for a detour length of approximately 36 miles. PennDOT anticipates this detour remaining in place for approximately two weeks. All work is weather-dependent.

This slide repair is part of a larger project to improve approximately 15.5 miles of roadway in Juniata and Mifflin counties. Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. is the contractor on this $3.4 million project. The slide repair accounts for approximately $550,000 of the total contract amount. PennDOT will issue updates before the start of work on the other roadways impacted by this project.
