Traffic Stop in East Boston Leads to Recovery of Firearms, Drugs, and the Arrest of Two Suspects.

At about 5:33 PM, on Monday, July 1st, 2024, A-7 (East Boston) Officers arrested Emanuel Jaramillo Alvarez, 22, of East Boston and Mynor Argueta Garcia, 21, of East Boston on multiple firearm and drug offenses following a traffic stop at 301 Border St, East Boston.

Officers were on patrol when they observed a vehicle traveling on a public way that had an obstructed license plate. Officers activated their vehicle's emergency lights and sirens and conducted a traffic stop at 301 Border St, East Boston. As Officers were exiting their cruiser, they observed five males moving around inside the vehicle and not wearing seatbelts. As Officers approached the driver to inform him why his vehicle was pulled over, they could smell burnt marijuana in the vehicle and observed burnt marijuana cigarettes inside the vehicle's ashtray.

Officers investigated the vehicle and its occupants, which led to the recovery of various narcotics and two firearms located inside of the vehicle and in the possession of its operator and an occupant. Officers recovered narcotics believed to be marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, and promethazine codeine.

District A-7 Detectives responded and recovered two (2) firearms determined to be a Taurus PT-111 G2, with five (5) assorted 9mm rounds and a Smith & Wesson M&P with eight (8) .380 caliber rounds.

Emanuel Jaramillo Alvarez was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court for the charges of Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of Class B Drugs (Promethazine Codeine) with Intent to Distribute, and Possession of Class D Drugs (Marijuana) with Intent to Distribute. Alvarez was also issued a Mass Uniform Citation for Failure to Wear a Seatbelt and Number Plate Violation.

Mynor Argueta Garcia was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court for the charges of Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, and Possession of Class C Drugs with Intent to Distribute. Alvarez was also issued a Mass Uniform Citation for Failure to Wear a Seatbelt.

Three other passengers were issued Mass Uniform Citations for Failure to Wear a Seatbelt.
