How to travel like a pro: More savings and zero hassle with the Trust card

A seamless travel experience free from the stress of currency exchange and hidden fees is just within your fingertips. Read on to find out how to travel like a pro with a Trust card - the ultimate companion for worry-free adventures abroad.

If you're not a Trust card holder yet, find out how you can get S$80 in FairPrice Group E-Vouchers* when you sign up for a Trust card by 31 July 2024.

1. Save on foreign transaction fees

Credit card holders can get charged up to 3.5% for transactions made overseas due to administrative fees and charges imposed by the credit card issuer or payment processor. Ditch the fees and save on these extra charges when you use the Trust card, as there are no foreign transaction fees, or any other hidden fees.

If you're spending S$1,000 while you are on vacation with your credit card, that is up to S$35 saved - enough for a hearty brunch in London, or several mid-day coffee treats in the quaint cafés of Bangkok.

2. Enjoy one of the best exchange rates

Check estimated exchange rates for popular currencies on the Trust app, which can be easily accessed from the Trust app.

Foreign exchange rates by Trust are as-is from Visa, without any markups or transaction fees. This means you get to enjoy rates similar to what you see on Google.

The transaction list on the Trust app allows you to keep track of the transaction amounts in foreign currencies and in Singapore dollars.

Making payments on my recent trip to Hong Kong was a breeze with the Trust app. I could easily track my expenses - from Uber and MTR rides to dim sum feasts at Maxim's Palace (really good!) and convenience store runs - both in Hong Kong dollars, and Singapore dollars.

You can check the exchange rates applied on your foreign currency transactions on the Trust App, as the transaction amounts in Singapore dollars are shown transparently on the App (no extra lines on fees and charges!) right after each transaction. The average exchange rate for my transactions in April 2024 was about 1 SGD : 5.74 - comparable to the rates I saw on Google and currency e-wallets.

Malaysia, Japan and the United Kingdom were the top countries for Trust cardholders spending foreign currency from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024. This shows that many Trust cardholders are already tapping on the great exchange rates for some of the most popular currencies for vacations - Malaysian Ringgit, Japanese Yen and the Great Britain Pound. Not a Trust cardholder, or not using your Trust card for foreign currency transactions yet? Don't miss out on stretching your dollar with great exchange rates by Trust!

3. Break free from currency e-wallet limits

Unlike some currency e-wallets with hold limits that only allow you to hold up to a particular amount in them, using a Trust card will allow you to spend according to your personal credit limit on your card.

Break free from limits - be it an unexpected once-in-a-lifetime activity for the family when you are on vacation, or a big shopping ticket item to reward yourself, you will not need to worry about exceeding holding limits with the Trust card.

The Trust card is also the first credit card in Singapore that lets you choose your own repayment date during your card application.

You can also submit your credit limit increase request limit on the go - through the Trust App.

4. Say bye to concerns on currency limitations

Settling payments when you are travelling can be worry-free with the Trust card. You can use it anywhere in the world where Visa is accepted.

Currency wallets in the market do not contain all currencies and some of our most-used foreign currencies like Japanese Yen, Malaysian Ringgit and South Korean Won may not be available, making remembering which wallet is capable of holding what currencies a headache.

Skip the scramble toggling across mobile apps and stop second guessing your decision on which card to use when you are overseas.

The Trust card boasts global acceptance wherever Visa is accepted (which is practically everywhere). Your overseas spending will be automatically converted to Singapore dollars equivalent on the Trust app, allowing you to instantly monitor the exchange rates and your expenses with ease.

5. Make effortless transactions the norm when you're on vacation

Frantic trips to the money changer and endless currency top-ups to your currency e-wallet to avoid leftover funds. I'm sure these are all too familiar, and travellers like you will certainly know the frustration.

Even worse, you're next in line for that must-have souvenir purchase and panic sets in - you realise you need to transfer funds to your currency e-wallet and hope there's enough to cover the purchase. To top it off, a weak roaming signal or sluggish Wifi makes this process feel like an eternity, not to mention you are holding up the queue behind you

But it doesn't have to be this way.

You can just swipe (or tap) and go with a Trust card when you're on vacation - just like you do at home in Singapore.

6. Travel with confidence with security features of the Trust card

Locking your Trust card can be done conveniently and immediately on the Trust app.

Trust Bank monitors card transactions and mobile app activities 24/7 too, and may require you to verify transactions if any suspicious activities are detected. If you misplace your Trust card or suspect that unauthorised transactions have taken place, you can also lock your card immediately and conveniently on the Trust App.

The App also allows you to unlock your card, in cases where you eventually find your card, allowing you to continue on your vacation with seamless payments. With these security measures, you can travel with a peace of mind, knowing your money is safeguarded.

7. Enjoy rewarding perks with Trust

You can earn Linkpoints on overseas purchases with the Trust card, just like your spend in Singapore.

Plus, your overseas spending counts towards the minimum monthly spend requirement on the Trust card. This opens the door to Trust's monthly and quarterly bonuses, where you can enjoy up to 21% savings in Linkpoints for your FairPrice Group purchases on the Trust card. Linkpoints can be used almost like cash to offset your purchases within the Fairprice Group, from your weekly groceries to kopi at Kopitiam, and can be redeemed for items like food, vouchers, products and experiences.
