Awards and Accomplishments: August 2024

• Dr. Robert Lloyd, Dean for the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Executive Director of the LeMieux Center for Public Policy, was interviewed by WPBF 25 on the upcoming election. Dr. Lloyd says this is uncharted territory, but America has the system in place to handle it. "Our founders created a system in which we would have the structures and institutions to deal with tremendous amounts of change," Dr. Lloyd said. "Our systems have held, and it will hold through this one. We'll get through this." Watch the interview here.
• Dr. Elizabeth Stice, Associate Professor of History and Fellow for Faculty Communication and Development, has a chapter in the recently published book "New Perspectives on the First World War: Beyond No Man's Land." Her chapter is titled "Empire and Harrow's 'Epic of War:' British Officers and Imperial Culture in the First World War."
• Christine Fink and Kathy Stauffer attended and presented at JAM, the annual meeting for the Jenzabar community. Their topic was "AD2RE: Ready, Set, Go!" which highlighted a major project to automate the flow of student records from Slate to Jenzabar particularly Student Information. The conference was attended by seven PBA staff and ran from May 29 - June 1.
• Dr. Paul Copan, Pledger Family Chair of Philosophy and Ethics, School of Ministry, was on a sabbatical in England; he was a Visiting Scholar at Oriel College (University of Oxford) from January through June 2024. He was able to complete several book-writing and editing projects as well as articles and book chapters:
  • Book-Writing and Editing:
    • Coedited with Michael Reardon, "Transformed into the Same Image: Constructive Investigations into the Doctrine of Deification" (IVP Academic), which will be released in November. Find the book here.
    • Coedited with Stewart Kelly, "Christianity Contested: Replies to Critics' Toughest Objections" (Wipf & Stock, 2025).
    • Coedited with Chris Date (nearing completion), "What Is Hell? A Multidisciplinary Evangelical Dialogue"(IVP Academic).
    • Authored a book on just war (to be translated into Ukrainian): "Just War, Jesus, and the War in Ukraine" (Lublin, Poland: Christian Open Academy, 2025).
