UW SER’s Final Energy Roadshow Presentations in Rock Springs Nov. 13

The University of Wyoming School of Energy Resources (SER) will host final Energy Roadshow presentations of the fall semester in Rock Springs Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Interested members of the public will have two opportunities to learn about the Sweetwater Carbon Storage Hub Project and Class VI Database project from UW SER and Frontier Carbon Solutions representatives.

A lunchtime meeting will be from noon-1 p.m. at the Rock Springs Public Library in the Ferrero Room. The same program will be presented in the evening from 6-7 p.m. in Room 3650 at Western Wyoming Community College.

Both events are free and open to the public. Meals and refreshments will be provided at each presentation.

Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Sweetwater Carbon Storage Project is poised to develop a new and expanded large-scale, commercial carbon storage project in the Greater Green River Basin. Led by the collaborative team of SER and Frontier Carbon Solutions, the project aims to help the carbon management goals of the region's critical hydrocarbon industries.

In late 2023, the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality issued three Class VI permits to Frontier Carbon Solutions -- marking the first Class VI permits issued for the state.

Similarly, the Class VI Database project is another DOE-funded project dedicated to the creation of a data-verified Class VI geologic database that provides a unique service to carbon storage developers and regulatory agencies for Wyoming.

Attendees at both presentations will have the opportunity to learn about the nuances of carbon capture, utilization and storage, including permitting requirements, resource management, the current status of each project and how these projects can have a positive impact at the community, regional and state level.
