Steven Horsford, Everytown Supported Gun Sense Candidate, Wins Re Election in Nevada’s Fourth Congressional District

Everytown Supporters, Alongside Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action Volunteers, Made More Than 12 Million Voter Contacts To Support Gun Sense Candidates Nationwide

WASHINGTON - Everytown for Gun Safety Victory Fund and Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, and its grassroots networks Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, issued the following statements after a major victory today as Nevada voters rejected gun lobby-backed John Lee and re-elected gun sense champion, Steven Horsford, to the U.S House of Representatives.

"As a gun violence survivor, Congressman Horsford has turned his pain into action by championing common-sense laws to keep Nevadans safe," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "Congressman Horsford has played a key role in so much of the progress we've made in Washington, and Everytown is eager to keep working with him to address our nation's gun violence crisis."

"As a steadfast leader and a survivor of gun violence himself, Congressman Horsford knows firsthand how weak gun safety laws can lead to immeasurable tragedy," said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. "He has shown unwavering commitment to ending this crisis in Congress, whether it's championing background checks on all gun sales or sponsoring the Break the Cycle of Violence Act. Congressman Horsford understands the holistic solutions our communities need, and we will continue to support his efforts every step of the way."

"Congressman Horsford has been a champion for gun violence survivors, keeping our stories front and center of his advocacy," said Geena Marano Springmann, a gun violence survivor and volunteer with the Nevada chapter of Moms Demand Action. "During his time in Congress, he has championed policies that honor those taken by gun violence with action. We thank him for his life-saving leadership and look forward to continuing our work together to put an end to the gun violence crisis in Nevada and across the country."

Gun violence is a personal issue to Congressman Horsford, whose father was taken by gun violence at the age of 19. In 2023, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund recognized Congressman Horsford as the lawmaker of the year for his work as the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, and leadership on the Break the Cycle of Violence Act. He has championed legislation to expand universal background checks, Extreme Risk laws, banning assault weapons, and more.

Earlier this year, Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund and Victory Fund announced a $45 million major electoral program, which included launching a new grassroots voter contact program to help elect gun sense candidates and defeat gun extremists up and down the ballot in key swing districts and states. These efforts focused on young voters on college campuses, voters of color, and suburban women in Arizona, California, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
