Nairobi County’s Social services sector scales up Psycho Social support offering to Kware victims.

The commencement of counseling services for the families coming to trace missing persons from human bodies that have been recovered from Kware site now laying at the Nairobi funeral home began with the Chief Officer Social Services George Mutiso emphasizing the critical importance of providing emotional and psychosocial support to those affected. He highlighted that the tragic incident had left deep scars on the community and underscored the necessity for comprehensive counseling services to aid the healing process.

The Chief Officer has expressed profound sympathy for the bereaved families, acknowledging the overwhelming grief and trauma they are experiencing. He stated that the counseling sessions aim to offer a safe space for families to express their emotions, process their grief, and receive professional guidance on coping strategies. The exercise, he noted, is part of a broader effort to provide holistic support to the victims' families, ensuring they have access to the resources needed to navigate this challenging period.

He further mentioned that the counseling services will be conducted by trained professionals both from County Government and Kenya Red Cross who specialize in trauma and grief counseling, ensuring that the support provided is both effective and empathetic. The Chief Officer has assured the families that Nairobi City County is committed to supporting them through every step of their healing journey and encouraged them to take full advantage of the services offered.

The Chief Officer reaffirmed the commitment by H.E Governor Sakaja and the County to stand with the victims families, by providing the necessary support to help them after such a devastating loss.
