City extends cooling center operations to July 10

Due to the continuing high temperatures, the City of Sacramento is extending cooling center operations at the Outreach and Engagement Center and the Sam & Bonnie Pannell Community Center.

The OEC (3615 Auburn Blvd.) now will provide weather respite through 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 10. The center can accommodate up to 50 guests at a time, offers storage for personal belongings if needed, and allows pets.

During this time, libraries and community centers will be open during their normal hours of operation, providing air-conditioned spaces for anyone needing to cool off. Residents are also encouraged to visit City spray parks and pools to beat the heat.

Sacramento Regional Transit will continue to provide free rides to and from the centers. To ride for free, screenshot or print this flyer and present it to the bus operator upon boarding, or show light rail fare inspection staff upon request. Only valid to and from activated weather respite centers.

The City will continue to monitor the National Weather Service's forecast and extend cooling center operations as needed. The City will also monitor capacity at the OEC to determine if other activations are necessary.
