BOROUGH PRESIDENT GIBSON’S STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT BIDEN’S WITHDRAWAL FROM THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

"President Joseph R. Biden dutifully represented our nation for years as a Senator, Vice President, and Commander-in-Chief, and we owe him a debt of gratitude for his years of public service and leadership during one of the most challenging times in American history.

During his presidency, we saw unprecedented investment in our nation's infrastructure and transportation with the Inflation Reduction Act and the American Rescue Plan, programs aimed at lifting children and families from poverty, an expansion in healthcare for veterans, a prioritization in reducing gun violence, efforts to eliminate student debt, and presidential appointments reflective of our country's diversity. President Biden led this country through the COVID-19 pandemic and restored our hope for a better tomorrow. His decision to withdraw from the Presidential race represents leadership, patriotism, and sacrifice at a time when our future is on the line and will solidify his legacy in American history.

We wish President Joseph R. Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, and their families well wishes and prayers of strength as they prepare to embark on a new chapter. We look forward to the official passing of the torch so we can continue to ensure our borough, city, and state receive the resources to support our neighbors and invest in our communities."
