Following an international tender, Space Hellas undertook the project: "Provision of equipment and systems to upgrade the network infrastructure and ensure the operational continuity of the Ionian University".

The project involves the modernization of the infrastructure of the Ionian University and the adoption of appropriate technical measures to limit the risk of breach or destruction of its information systems and data, while aiming at the implementation of a plan to ensure its operational continuity.

As part of the implementation of the project, Space Hellas has undertaken the procurement, installation, configuration and commissioning of a new server arrangement of modern modular architecture and the necessary suite of cloud infrastructure applications (VMware), two new storage systems and two new integrated backup systems. The above solutions are implemented with products from the manufacturing company Dell Technologies and ensure the continuation of the University's business operations.

To further protect the data of the Ionian University, Space Hellas has chosen:

• the installation of security devices (Firewalls/UTMs) in all sites of the academic institution, including the Central Management Console

• the integrated Network Access Control (NAC) solution for controlling user and device access to University resources, as well as the necessary user access permissions via virtual private networks (VPNs) for secure remote access

• the integrated multi-factor authentication solution (MFA - Multi Factor Authentication) for greater assurance of remote user access

• the multi-level security solution for user terminals (Endpoint Security Solution) and their protection against malicious software and

• the integrated security solution for users' email accounts (Email Security).

In addition to its secure DNS provider service, it offers a first line of defense against online digital threats. The Ionian University's holistic approach to cybersecurity is implemented with products and services from Cisco.

The Ionian University, a leading player in shaping the international agenda for the sustainability of universities, has taken an important step towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals to which it has committed itself through the Charter of Greek Universities, entitled "The Greek Universities as Lighthouses of Sustainability" (2022-2030). The technological upgrading of the Ionian University will achieve the modernisation of its systems, the holistic response to digital threats and breaches, while ensuring its operational continuity.
