APNIC supported and participated in the BtCIRT National Cybersecurity Conference 2024, held in Thimphu, Bhutan on 25 October 2024.
The event was one of several events held during the National Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2024 and featured a diverse lineup of local and international speakers. Key topics included space security, cybersecurity architecture, AI in cybersecurity and much more.

Jamie Gillespie presented on 'Analysis of SMTP TLS Implementations' where he discussed the current state and vulnerabilities of SMTP TLS, recommendations for improvement, and future advancements in TLS protocols.

Jamie and APNIC Community Trainer, Swapneel Patnekar, also conducted a three-day Network Security Workshop from 22 to 24 October 2024 for 31 participants.

During their visit to Bhutan, Jamie and Swapneel took that opportunity to visit Phuentsholing to deliver a three-day Network Security Workshop for the Royal University of Bhutan, College of Science and Technology and engage with the IT students. Jamie also gave a lecture on Internet fundamentals and redundancy, noting the intricacies of Internet infrastructure and emphasizing the importance of redundancy; Swapneel spoke about 'how to become a geek', encouraging participants to pursue self-learning, experiment with new technology and engage with the global technical community.
