In mid-November 2024, IPA President Karine Pansa attended the Shanghai International Children's Book Fair where she delivered one of the welcome speeches amongst a series of meetings.

As President of the International Publishers Association and a children's book publisher hereself, Pansa spoke about the immense responsibility and privilege children's book publishers have in shaping the future. She noted how children's books go beyond entertainment and can create unforgettable moments between children and their parents, nurturing a love of reading that becomes the foundation for lifelong learning, creativity, and success.

Pansa underlined how crucial publishing is, not only for encouraging literacy but also for tackling broader global challenges, such as sustainability, diversity, and inclusion. Initiatives like the SDG Book Club and the SDG Publishers Compact highlight how publishers can amplify their impact while creating meaningful stories for the next generation.

Pansa called on children's publishers to stand together, supporting one another as they continue to innovate, inspire, and push boundaries.
