Storm Alert - Tropical Storm Debby - August 3, 2024

The fourth tropical disturbance of the year has formed into Tropical Storm Debby, which is moving from Cuba northward towards the Florida panhandle. Although early forecasts showed the storm peaking as a tropical storm, the latest data now suggests it could hit hurricane strength before making landfall sometime on Monday.

Debby will bring heavy rain, strong winds, and potential coastal flooding. While the storm is expected to land in Florida's North Central region, the storm's counter-clockwise spin will bring strong winds and storm surge along Florida's western coast as it moves northward.

The storm will bring significant rainfall, with totals ranging from 5 to 10 inches and localized amounts up to 15 inches, leading to potential flash flooding and isolated river flooding. Winds are expected to reach above 74 mph, with gusts potentially causing power outages and tree damage. Coastal flooding is also a concern due to storm surge.

Florida's fueling network is largely barge-fed, so the storm could temporarily delay fuel shipments into key markets such as Tampa. Based on the storm's current forecast, no significant supply outages are expected. Mansfield is proactively working to top off customers, and will continue to monitor the storm's path and work with local supply and delivery contacts to maintain reliable deliveries.

We encourage all our customers to stay informed about the storm's progress and to take necessary precautions. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or need assistance with your fuel supply.
