Baxter Bridge To Close for Replacement Project on August 15

​Indiana, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 10 is announcing that the Baxter Bridge on Mount Pleasant Road (Route 3003) in Clover Township, Jefferson County will close on August 15, 2024.

The bridge is estimated to be closed through August 21, 2025. To detour, motorists will travel south 1.9 miles on Mount Pleasant Road (Route 3003), then turn right on Roller Coaster Road (Route 3022) travelling 2.1 miles. Turn right on Heathville Ohl Road (Route 3007) and travel 0.8 miles until turning right on Route 28 North (Summerville Borough).

On August 19, crews will begin to set concrete barrier on the shoulders on Route 28 both northbound and southbound which will restrict the travel lanes to a 12 foot width. Traffic will be open in both directions, but motorists should use caution through the area.

This project will start at the intersection with Route 28 and end on the east side of the Baxter Bridge and consists of a full bridge replacement and other miscellaneous construction. Contractor, Beech Construction, Inc. of Pittsburg, PA, will be completing this $4.75 million project that will conclude at the end of September 2025.
