Green Bay Expects Presidential Campaigns to Settle Public Safety Costs

(Green Bay, WI) The Office of Mayor Eric Genrich announces the existence of outstanding invoices related to the public safety costs incurred by the City of Green Bay during the past presidential campaigns of 2016, as well as the current campaigns of Joe Biden and Donald Trump in 2024.

The outstanding invoices are as follows are included below.

"We are honored to host visits from presidential candidates and appreciate the significance these events hold for our community," said Mayor Eric Genrich. "At the same time, there are very real costs associated with the public safety resources these events require, and it is crucial that the financial responsibilities associated with these services are borne by the campaigns, not our taxpayers."

The City of Green Bay has incurred substantial costs to ensure the safety and security of campaign participants, residents, and attendees during these high-profile campaign visits.

"Green Bay residents are frugal people who pay their bills, and they expect presidential candidates to do the same," Mayor Genrich emphasized. "It is a matter of fairness and fiscal responsibility - our residents should not bear the burden of these expenses."

As part of the City's commitment to transparency, information regarding public safety costs associated with presidential campaign visits will continue to be made publicly available. The City will maintain this practice throughout the remainder of the 2024 presidential campaign season and will continue to advocate for timely payments from all campaign organizations.
