Traffic Stop in Roslindale leads to Suspect’s Arrest and Recovery of a Loaded Firearm and Ammunition

At about 1:15 AM, on Friday, July 26th, 2024, Officers assigned District B-3 (Mattapan) conducted a traffic stop at 485 American Legion Highway that resulted in the arrest of Frezell Brown, 46, of Dorchester, and the recovery of a firearm and ammunition.

Officers were on patrol on Shandon Rd. when they observed an SUV idling as they drove by. A query was conducted on the SUV which revealed that the vehicle had an expired registration. Officers traveled down Shandon Rd. and then took a right onto Franklin Hill Ave, where they observed the same SUV traveling on Franklin Hill Ave. and taking a left onto American Legion Highway. Officers positioned their cruiser behind the vehicle and activated their emergency lights and sirens and conducted a traffic stop at 485 American Legion Highway.

An investigation followed and revealed that the operator, Frezell Brown, had an expired driver's license and a firearm and ammunition were located near the front passenger seat.

B-3 Detectives responded and the firearm was determined to be a Taurus International 9mm, with ten (10) rounds in the magazine capable of holding 12 rounds along with an empty magazine.

Frezell Brown was arrested and is expected to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court for the charges of Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm, Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Unlawful Possession of Ammunition.

Brown was also issued a Mass Uniform Citation for Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
