Persons of Interest Sought in June Fatal Shooting at 4760 Sherwood Lane

July 25, 2024- Houston police are asking for the public's help in locating two persons of interest sought for questioning in the fatal shooting of a man at 4760 Sherwood Lane about 9:45 p.m. on June 25.

The persons of interest are identified as Terryl Shawn Richard, 29 and Trishia Perrault, 26. Photos of both persons of interest, who are not charged, are attached to this news release.

The victim is identified as Derrick Dewayne Smith, 31.

HPD Homicide Division Detectives W. Huff and J. Nguyen reported:

HPD patrol officers responded to a shooting at a motel at the above address and found an unresponsive man with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Officers provided medical assistance until Houston Fire Department paramedics arrived and transported the man to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Further investigation identified Richard and Perrault as two persons of interest who may have information regarding this incident.
