Sparks, NV - On November 5, 2024, the City of Sparks will begin removing 27 Juniper trees and shrubs at Aimone Park that are losing large limbs during windstorms and interfering with NV Energy power lines. The project is part of the City's ongoing efforts to maintain safety and enhance the quality of community spaces.

The trees are located on the east side of the park between Queen Way to Penny Way. New trees will be selected to provide a healthier, more sustainable addition to Aimone Park.

"We are committed to improving the park's environment and plan to replant a different tree species that better suits the park's conditions and enhances its aesthetic value," said Public Works Manager Mark Anderson. The new trees will not be planted in the same area to prevent future interference with the power and communication lines.

The tree and shrub removal project will take approximately two weeks to complete. During this period, there may be temporary disruptions in the park's accessibility.

"We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the community's understanding and cooperation as we work to enhance the safety and beauty of Aimone Park," Anderson said.

The planting of new trees is expected to begin in 2025.
