CBMF 2024 concludes without serious incident

July 8, 2024, Cavendish PE - Cavendish Beach Music Festival (CBMF) involves thousands of visitors coming to PEI for an outdoor country music concert. 2024's concert concluded on a positive note without serious incident.

RCMP and other partners, including Parks Canada, PEI Corrections, PEI Liquor Commission, the Department of Transportation and many other community partners work hard to develop and implement a plan to meet the needs of CBMF and make it as safe as possible.

Some of the RCMP actions that helped to contribute to 2024's success included:

Planning: Planning for this concert starts months in advance; we work with our partners to address issues and continuously adapt to make the safest experience possible.

Staffing: RCMP scaled up quickly by bringing in officers from across PEI New Brunswick and Nova Scotia to meet the needs of a small city-like population in Cavendish. This includes everything from officers on patrol to logistics support and setting up infrastructure.

Road Safety: Officers are deployed all over the Cavendish area, in cars, on foot patrol, traffic stops and mandatory screening checkpoints; all to keep impaired drivers off the road and ensure everyone's safety.

Traffic Plan: Every night, Route 6 was shut down to two-way traffic. Officers and Department of Transportation employees separated pedestrians and motorists to prevent incidents. This involved planning safety corridors for pedestrians and restricting the direction of travel for vehicles.

PEI RCMP would like to thank concertgoers and our organizing partners for a safe and incredible concert. We look forward to seeing everyone again at September's SOMMO concert.
