Placentia RCMP investigating report of suspicious man approaching youth

Placentia RCMP is investigating a report of a suspicious man trying to lure a youth into his vehicle.

The incident occurred on Thursday, August 8, 2024, between 11:00 -11:30 a.m. on the Main Road in Dunville. Police were advised that a white vehicle with an Ontario license plate drove past the youth multiple times before stopping. The driver was a man described as being of East Indian descent, six feet tall, with a large moustache and wearing black clothing and a black turban. He offered the youth a ride multiple times and was insistent that he get in the vehicle. The youth declined the numerous offers and made a cell phone call, after which the man left the area and headed north on Route 100.

Anyone who has seen such a vehicle and driver in the area or has witnessed suspicious activity is asked to call Placentia RCMP at 709-227-2000.
