HARRISBURG - Rep. Tina Pickett (R-Bradford/Wyoming) and Sen. Lisa Baker (R-20) today announced a state grant in the amount of $100,000 has been awarded to Overfield Township to complete a community park project. The funding was approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources through the Community Conservation Partnership Program (C2P2).
Specifically, the grant will go toward the rehabilitation and further development of Teener Field Park, including construction of a pedestrian walkway and parking area, installation of playground equipment with required safety surfacing, ADA access, signage, landscaping and other related site improvements
"This project is necessary to maintain the park as an important community asset," said Pickett. "With that in mind, we worked to secure the state funding that will make the improvements possible so residents can enjoy a safe and up-to-date recreational facility for many years to come."
"As our municipal parks expand and add recreational activities, they become even more popular with residents. They are safe and relaxing centers for people young and old. The community deserves credit for good planning and generating local support," Baker added.
C2P2 assists local governments and recreation and conservation organizations with funding for projects related to parks, recreation and conservation. The program is funded through a variety of state and federal sources.
