Senator Baldwin Delivers Over $6 Million for Wisconsin Airports to Improve Safety and Efficiency

WISCONSIN - Today, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) announced that four Wisconsin airports in Milwaukee, Green Bay, Marathon County, and La Crosse have been awarded over $6 million in federal funding to enhance safety, replace critical equipment, and upgrade facilities.

"Our local airports keep our Made in Wisconsin economy moving forward, allowing Wisconsinites to do business and visitors to explore all that the Badger State has to offer. I was proud to support this investment to ensure that Wisconsinites, tourists, and businesses can count on our airports to be running safely and on time," said Senator Baldwin. "This funding will help ensure that airports of all sizes across Wisconsin can handle increased traffic and continue to serve our communities and visitors safely."

The funding for the projects comes from the Baldwin-backed annual government funding legislation and a program that Baldwin voted to extend in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization legislation. The following airports received funding:

Milwaukee General Mitchell International Airport - $2,876,300 to install new lighting to enhance safety and rehabilitate taxiway to extend its useful life.

Green Bay-Austin Straubel International Airport - $2,068,226 to replace existing snow removal equipment that has reached the end of its useful life.

Central Wisconsin Airport in Marathon County - $862,209 to replace an existing fire-fighting truck to improve safety.

La Crosse Regional Airport - $223,200 to rehabilitate the aircraft rescue and firefighting building.
