Booker Continues Annual Jersey Road Trip with Stops in Camden, Gloucester Counties

NEWARK, NJ - Today, as part of his annual Jersey Summer Road Trip, U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) visited Runnemede's Fire Department to announce $600,000 of congressionally directed spending for improvements to the fire house.

"It is a privilege to be able to secure federal funding for local heroes, like those at the Runnemede Fire Department, who every day put their lives on the line for their community," said Senator Booker. "I'm pleased that the department will be able to make necessary improvements to their fire house so they can continue their life-saving work. Each year, my road trip through our state reminds me of the greatness that is within each and every New Jerseyan and all the promise our state has to offer."

"The Borough of Runnemede cannot thank Senator Booker enough for his assistance in obtaining this grant for the Runnemede Fire Company," said Mayor Nick Kappatos. "Without these funds, the project would not be moving forward."

"Thank you to Senator Booker for recognizing the needs of the Runnemede Fire Company," said Chief Patrick Moriarty. "Municipalities often face budget constraints and must prioritize spending, which can lead to essential projects being overlooked. This makes securing grant funding crucial. This funding ensures our facility is properly equipped to meet the needs of everyone who relies on our services and emergency response."

Booker also toured the soon-to-open Edelman Fossil Park & Museum of Rowan University in Gloucester County, which highlights South Jersey's rich history of paleontological discoveries. The new museum is set to officially open its doors to the public this fall.

Booker's annual road trip continues tomorrow with stops in Union and Monmouth counties. For more information, please contact [email protected].
