NEWARK AND NEWARK BETH ISRAEL MEDICAL CENTER TO HOST ALMA BEATTY HEALTH AND WELLNESS FAIR AT MARQUIS “BO” PORTER SPORTS COMPLEX, SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, AT NOON

Mayor Ras J. Baraka announced today that the City of Newark will partner with Newark Beth Israel Medical Center to host the annual Alma Beatty Health and Wellness Fair at the Marquis "Bo" Porter Sports Complex at 378 Lyons Avenue, on Saturday, September 21, from noon to 4 p.m.

The health fair will include free blood pressure screenings, diabetes screenings, health information tables, and education sessions with expert clinicians at the "Ask the Clinician" table. There will be opportunities to make appointments for mammograms, colorectal cancer screenings, lung cancer screenings, and more. Newark Beth Israel is also bringing its Farmer's Market to the park, offering a wide selection of fresh, locally grown fruits, and vegetables.

"Every year, this health fair provides Newark families with an enjoyable way to focus on their wellness and engage with services that reinforce health and healthy living," Mayor Baraka said. "When we learn better ways to take care of ourselves, we are empowered to choose lifestyles, nutrition and treatment that best support our vision for our future, and steer our families toward long-term, generational health."

Attendees may also enjoy music, with special programs for children that will include Bricks4Kidz, GlassRoots, the YMCA, face painting, ping-pong, photo booths, carnival games, and more.

There will also be special giveaways, raffles, and a food truck corridor on Lyons Avenue, in front of Marquis "Bo" Porter Sports Complex.

The rain date for the Alma Beatty Health and Wellness Fair is Saturday, September 28, 2024, to be held at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center.
