Wilmore Webley Presented Health and Human Service Award by Springfield Stone Soul Festival

Wilmore Webley, professor of microbiology and senior vice provost of equity and inclusion, was recently recognized as one of three Human Service Award recipients at the 35th annual Stone Soul Festival in Springfield. <_o3a_p>

State Rep. Bud L. Williams presented Webley with the award Sept. 1 on behalf of the festival's committee, who chose to honor Webley in recognition of the work he does with the community on infectious disease threats, especially that of COVID, and his work with the Black Springfield COVID Coalition.

Also receiving Health and Human Service Awards were one of the event's founders, Richard "Rick" Johnson, a pioneer in AIDS education and prevention in the Springfield area, and Helen Coulton-Harris, Springfield's commissioner of the Division of Health and Human Services and the first Black woman to hold that position.<_o3a_p><_o3a_p><_o3a_p>
