European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms Elisa Ferreira underlined: "The European Union Solidarity Fund helps EU Member States recover from devastating natural disasters. This assistance covers emergency costs and helps EU countries recover in the context of climate challenges."
The proposal also includes financial assistance for Italy, Austria, Greece and France. Once approved by the European Parliament and the EU Council, the financial assistance will be paid as a lump sum. Slovenia will receive 328.4 million euros in addition to the Commission's advance payment of 100 million euros in December 2023.
