City of Hoboken launches survey for community input on FIFA World Cup 2026 celebrations

The City of Hoboken today launched an online community survey to gather input on potential events and activities the City could host during the FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament scheduled to occur from June 11 to July 19, 2026. With matches set to take place at the New York New Jersey (MetLife) Stadium, members of the City's administration and Assemblyman John Allen's office recently met with the NY/ NJ FIFA Host Committee to showcase Hoboken as a location for tournament festivities that celebrate soccer's global influence and bring the community together. To further these discussions, the City is seeking direction from residents to ensure the events reflect the desires and interests of Hoboken residents.

Residents are invited to take the survey by visiting the following link: https://arcg.is/1mvHi5. The survey will remain open until 6 p.m. on Nov. 1, 2024.

"We are thrilled that the World Cup is coming to our region and want to ensure that Hoboken plays an active role in celebrating this historic event," said Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla. "Our goal is to create opportunities for the entire community to come together, enjoy the excitement of the World Cup, and showcase Hoboken's vibrant business community. I look forward to hearing from residents about what kind of events they'd like to see and how we can make this an unforgettable experience for our residents and visitors."

"As a community filled with soccer-lovers and more than its fair share of soccer players of all ages, Hoboken is a great location for some of the key events leading up to the World Cup," said Assemblyman John Allen. "This survey will enable Hoboken residents to shape this unique opportunity and experience."

The survey is designed to collect input on various event options including fan zones, cultural showcases, live screenings, youth soccer clinics, and more. The City will use the feedback to craft a comprehensive plan for inclusive and family-friendly celebrations for both residents and visitors alike.
