President Meloni’s telephone conversation with President al-Sisi

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation this evening with President al-Sisi of Egypt. The call focused on the follow-up to the Italia-Africa Summit, starting with implementation of the projects included in the 'Mattei Plan for Africa', as part of which Egypt is one of the pilot Countries.

The telephone conversation, part of ongoing contacts with key leaders in the region, also addressed the current situation in the Middle East. Four months on from the dramatic capture of hostages on October 7th, and confirming the need to continue with humanitarian efforts, the Italian Government's strong wish for their speedy release was reiterated.
