Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown has ordered flags at all City facilities to be lowered to half-staff to coincide with Governor Jay Inslee's directive that state and U.S. flags at all state agency facilities be lowered, in remembrance of former Governor Daniel Evans.

"Governor Evans was one of Washington's most respected leaders," Mayor Brown said. "He proudly represented Washington State as both a U.S. Senator and Governor."\

Governor Evans passed away on September 20, 2024. A memorial service will occur on Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m. at the University of Washington. Flags will remain at half-staff until close of business or sunset on Thursday, Nov. 14.
