A Regional Conference on educational planning in Asia-Pacific will take place in Metro Manila in the Philippines, from 5-7 November 2024 to create a collaborative roadmap for resilient, future-ready education systems.
Organized by the UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning(IIEP-UNESCO) and hosted by SEAMEO Regional Center for Educational Innovation and Technology (INNOTECH) in partnership with the Philippine Department of Education (DepEd) and UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines, the event will bring together heads of planning departments, national training and research institutions, heads of educational planning, ministry representatives, development partners, and UNESCO Field Offices from across Asia-Pacific.
Participants will explore new opportunities to enhance health and well-being and digital connectivity, while also addressing urgent challenges such as lessons from COVID-19 and the existential impacts of climate change on learning continuity and education.
This regional Conference presents a timely opportunity to set a collaborative agenda for strengthening capacities in educational planning across the Asia-Pacific. Through research, training, and technical assistance, we are committed to supporting countries across the region develop resilient and inclusive education systems prepared for the demands of the future.
Education is the foundation of sustainable national development, shaping both individual futures and the progress of our societies.This conference is an essential step in building resilient, future-ready education systems across the Asia-Pacific, where inclusivity, well-being, and adaptability are at the core of every strategy we develop together.
For three days, delegates will explore three critical, demand-driven topics: learning, equity, and well-being; governance and digitalization; and crisis and climate change. Each session will showcase new approaches and practical solutions for both highly populated countries and small island developing states in the region.
This Conference offers a crucial platform to catalyze change. Through cooperation and commitment, we can use our unique narratives and experiences to develop sustainable solutions to the pressing educational challenges in our region. As policy-makers and educators, it is our responsibility to reimagine educational systems and equip our schools to build the skills and competencies our learners need to thrive in the 21st century.
The Conference will also set the foundation for an expanded network on educational planning for the Asia-Pacific region, exploring new modalities of collaboration and opportunities for exchange with other regions.
