Adult Learning and Development, Educational Leadership partner with Early Childhood to support early literacy

NATCHITOCHES - In support of Northwestern State University School of Education's service learning and experiential learning initiatives, the NSU Adult Learning and Development and NSU Educational Leadership programs continue to partner with the Early Childhood Education program to support family literacy programs in Louisiana. Faculty in both programs donated resources to increase the school's Cradle to College initiative outreach across the state. The resources will be added to family literacy bags and distributed to children to enhance their print-rich environments at home.

NSU's Early Childhood program prepares teachers to work with children from birth to age 8 with a preschool to third grade certification.

"We offer add-on, B.S., and MAT Alternate Certification programs, along with the only M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education program in the state," Dr. Michelle Brunson, director of graduate programs in Early Childhood Education. The Adult Learning and Development Doctor of Education program serves individuals who aspire to earn their doctorate in workforce and development or in community college leadership. Finally, the Educational Leadership program offers an M.Ed., Ed.S., and add-on certification. The Educational Leadership program develops and supports building effective leaders for schools who can improve the lives of every K-12 student. The program cultivates and enhances dynamic, high-performing leadership for the renewal and improvement of schools and is designed to help those in leadership roles provide effective leadership for teaching and learning.
