South Half of Roosevelt Avenue to Close on Tuesday

AMES, Iowa - On Tuesday, Sept. 17, the south half of Roosevelt Avenue between 13th and 16th Streets will close, weather permitting, for pavement removal and replacement. There will be an additional temporary lane closure on 13th Street adjacent to Roosevelt Avenue to allow for truck movement during pavement removal and replacement. This lane will be reopened at the end of each day.

This is anticipated to take four to five weeks.

Once completed, pavement work on the south half of Marston Avenue is anticipated to begin, and work on Curtiss Avenue is expected to be completed by the week of Sept. 23.

The City of Ames has contracted with Manatts for the reconstruction of Curtiss, Marston, and Roosevelt Avenues from 16th Street to 13th Street. The project will include the removal and replacement of the existing roadway, several storm intakes, and spot replacement of sewer and water main utilities on Curtiss Avenue. Additionally, sidewalks ramps will be updated to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
