OPSU Gears Up for Fall 2024 with a New Era Welcoming the 115th Class

As the Fall 2024 semester begins, excitement is building at Oklahoma Panhandle State University. This semester marks the arrival of the 115th class in Goodwell, Oklahoma. With a continued focus on creating a vibrant, student-centered environment, OPSU is rolling out initiatives and events to ensure students feel welcomed, engaged, and supported throughout their academic journey.

Dean of Student Services, Laura Hutchinson, stated, "We are excited and prepared for this next year. Our team has worked tirelessly to create an environment where every student can thrive, both academically and personally. From housing and meal plans to student activities, we cannot wait to welcome our new and returning students and see all the amazing things they will achieve."

OPSU kicked off the semester with a Welcome Week like never before. Each evening featured various events to help students connect with their peers, explore the campus, and dive into university life. There was something for everyone, from social mixers and game nights to informational sessions and interactive activities.

One of the highlights of Welcome Week was the Majors and College Fair, where students explored different academic paths and met faculty members, student leaders, and club advisors. Record-breaking attendance was set at this welcome week event. It allowed new and returning students to gather information, ask questions, and make informed decisions about their educational pursuits.

Another event during Welcome Week was meeting the Student Government Association representatives. This event allowed students to meet their SGA leaders and know who they can turn to for support, advocacy, and representation from the Association. Students who want to impact campus life and be a part of the student voice are always encouraged to join SGA. By being involved in student government, students can voice their opinions, advocate for their peers, and contribute to shaping the policies and initiatives that directly affect their university experience.

University President, Dr. Julie Dinger, emphasized the importance of the start of the semester, "At OPSU, we are one university with one mission, continuously dedicated to every student. We are excited to welcome this new class, and I look forward to meeting them all at the events hosted by the Student Activities team and our fall sports."

OPSU encourages all students to take full advantage of the opportunities available on campus. There are countless ways to get involved, from clubs and organizations to volunteer programs and leadership roles. This year promises to be an exciting time for personal growth, community building, and academic success.
