The Personal Data Protection Office prepared workshops for children affected by the flood

At the invitation of the 'Reclaim Yourself' Foundation and the Reset Centre, representatives of the Personal Data Protection Office, Natalia Misiuk, Director of the Department of New Technologies, together with associates, took part in a meeting on 27 September with children from Paczków, victims of the flood. The Odzyskaj siebie" ('Reclaim Yourself') Foundation, in aid of the children, organised the meeting with education as its main objective. During the workshop, interactive educational materials prepared by the Personal Data Protection Office were presented, which introduced the participants to key issues related to new technologies. The meeting covered both basic and more advanced technological concepts, such as digitalisation, artificial intelligence, big data, and the Internet of Things (IoT). In the second part of the meeting, workshop participants prepared posters on the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence. The youth analysed both the positive aspects of the development of AI, such as the possibilities to automate and streamline everyday activities, and the potential risks, including the risk of data manipulation and the impact on privacy. The posters also included tips on how to use new technologies safely, including how to protect their personal data by using strong passwords and being careful about what information they share online.

The workshop provided the youngest with guidance on where to seek help and information if they have problems with privacy breaches or cyber threats. The educational topic and the discussion with the participants aimed to make young people aware of what personal data is and that data is a value in itself.
