PennDOT Places Speed Display Boards on Routes in Centre County

​Clearfield, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) placed radar-controlled speed display boards this week on Route 2006 and Route 3040, both in Centre County. The boards are intended to remind drivers to obey the posted speed limit and aid in curbing speeding, a common type of aggressive driving behavior.

On Route 2006 (Upper/Lower Brush Valley Road) the board faces westbound traffic between Gregg Station Road and Black Hawk Road in Potter Township in a 35 mile per hour zone. This board will remain in place for four to six weeks.

On Route 3040 (South Eagle Valley Road/Old Route 220) the board faces northbound traffic outside of Unionville between Eagle Creek Lane and Route 504 in Union Township in a 35 mile per hour zone. This board will remain in place for four weeks, then be placed on the southbound side.

Speeding and other aggressive driving behaviors are among the leading causes of Pennsylvania crashes and fatalities. Other aggressive driving behaviors include running stop signs or red lights, passing illegally, and tailgating.

PennDOT listed aggressive driving behaviors as a factor in 54 percent of crashes in Centre County in 2023.
