Joint Committee on Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth meets for discussion on the Annual Report for 2023 of the Ombudsman for Children entitled “Uncertain Times”

The Joint Committee on Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth meets tomorrow, Tuesday 2nd July at 3pm in Committee Room 4 of Leinster House for discussion on the Annual Report for 2023 of the Ombudsman for Children entitled "Uncertain Times" with representatives from the Office of the Ombudsman for Children.

The meeting will hear from:

· Dr Niall Muldoon, Ombudsman for Children

· Ms Nuala Ward, Director of Investigations

· Ms Aoife Carragher, Head of Communications

Speaking ahead of the meeting Deputy Kathleen Funchion, Cathaoirleach of the Committee said "Our Committee will welcome the Office of the Ombudsman for Children to discuss their Annual Report for 2023 - "Uncertain Times".

"The Report, released in May of this year, details the challenges faced by children in Ireland and states that there were over 1,790 complaints received by the OCO. The meeting tomorrow continues this Committee's commitment to working with not only the Office of the Ombudsman for Children but the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth and the other organisations who are tasked with the protection and the championing of Children's rights."
