Verisk Names Dorothy Kelly as Vice President of Innovation

Kelly to lead Verisk Innovation Accelerator team, which develops innovations that meet the most pressing needs of the insurance industry

JERSEY CITY, N.J., August 26, 2024 - Verisk (Nasdaq: VRSK), a leading global data analytics and technology provider, today announced that Dorothy Kelly has been named vice president of innovation.

In this role, Kelly will lead the Verisk Innovation Accelerator and will partner with team members from across the business to bring new products to market, focusing on integrated solutions and product enhancements that meet the needs of clients and the industry. She will report to Yang Chen, head of corporate development and strategy.

Boosting business outcomes through practical innovation

Verisk's Innovation Accelerator operationalizes the process of turning employee ideas into problem solving solutions that deliver value for Verisk clients and the communities they serve. This is achieved by supporting employees who apply to the program in listening to the voice of the customer, conducting market research, building business cases, and incubating funded ideas through the Accelerator program.

Since its inception in 2020, the Accelerator has funded 55 ideas, with 20 more currently in the pipeline. One-third of the ideas submitted come from teams joining forces from different businesses within Verisk. This collaboration has resulted in Verisk building client-focused solutions across markets and throughout the insurance life cycle. Many recent new products such as Discovery Navigator, Market Expectations Index, and Life & Critical Illness Risk Rating Tool originated from the Accelerator.

"True innovation goes beyond fostering a creative environment: it's about enabling the real-world application of insurance expertise to revolutionize our business units and the products we offer," said Kelly. "I'm looking forward to using my experiences within Verisk and across the insurance industry to drive programs like the Verisk Innovation Accelerator. Our goal is to deliver tangible solutions for our customers and for the insurance ecosystem at large."

About Dorothy Kelly

Dorothy's experience in leading product development efforts and collaborations across Verisk as well as her entrepreneurial background make her a natural and strategic fit for her new role. Dorothy helped launch an insurance services startup which was acquired by Verisk in 2010, bolstering Verisk's Claims business and bringing her into the fold.

Dorothy has held leadership positions in Verisk's claims and underwriting businesses, most recently serving as vice president of product management in Underwriting Solutions. Dorothy has continued to work on product development initiatives, including helping Verisk identify businesses for acquisition within Verisk's Underwriting division.

"Dorothy understands the incredible value that can be unlocked by listening to the voice of our customers and the importance of collaborating with colleagues around the globe to develop solutions that increase the impact and efficiency of our clients' important work," said Chen. "Under Dorothy's leadership, I'm confident we'll only accelerate our pace of innovation."

In 2012 Dorothy was named by Business Insurance to its "Women to Watch" list, which features women who do outstanding work in insurance, risk management and related fields. In the community, Dorothy supports organizations that raise awareness about breast cancer, fund research, and help families impacted by the disease. Dorothy is a member of the Board of Directors for Runway for Recovery, a non-profit that provides funding for families who lose a parent to breast cancer. Runway for Recovery is a New England-based organization which recently expanded its reach into California and is launching in 2024 in New York.
