City of Annapolis Launches September

2024 BioBlitz to Promote Pollinator Awareness

Annapolis, MD (August 27, 2024) - The City of Annapolis invites residents and visitors to participate in BioBlitz, a crowd-sourced inventory of plants, animals, fungi and other organisms whose habitat is Annapolis. This volunteer-driven field study is a partnership between the City's Department of Recreation and Parks and the National Recreation and Park Association. Bioblitz will take place throughout the month of September with a goal of raising awareness about pollinators and local biodiversity in City of Annapolis Parks.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE: Between September 1 and 30, residents and visitors are invited to volunteer in the scientific process by identifying wildlife in Annapolis Parks. Participants will need to download the iNaturalist appand contribute their observations to the "Parks for Pollinators Annapolis 2024" project. The Annapolis resident who uploads the most pictures will win a complimentary week-long membership to "Pip" Moyer Recreation Center. The prize includes full access to programs and equipment in the facility.

The City of Annapolis invites all nature enthusiasts, families, and curious individuals to participate as individuals or as neighborhood or community groups. Join us in discovering the rich biodiversity of our local parks while contributing to important conservation efforts.
