Kildee Announces Federal Funding for Improvements at Flint Bishop International Airport

FLINT-Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-08) today announced new federal funding to make improvements to the Bishop International Airport in Flint.

The $1,996,553 grant, awarded by the Federal Aviation Administration, will be used to make upgrades to the airport's terminal, including new gate counters, ticket counters, and information displays, construct a new 6,000-foot service road, and add a taxilane. The funding for this project is from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, a law Congressman Kildee helped pass and supported by President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.

"By upgrading our local airports, we can connect Michigan families to the rest of the world and ensure our small businesses can ship their products around the globe," Congressman Kildee said. "I am proud to announce this federal grant to revitalize and invest in Flint Bishop International Airport. In Congress, I will continue working to bring federal resources home for infrastructure projects like these that are putting Michiganders to work in good-paying jobs."

"Flint Bishop Airport plays a vital role in growing the economy in Michigan's 8th District and throughout the region. We appreciate Congressman Kildee's continued support in helping us make needed improvements to the terminal. The grant funds will go a long way in helping us enhance the travel experience FNT passengers love and appreciate," said Nino Sapone, Chief Executive Officer of Flint Bishop International Airport.

Congressman Kildee has long supported efforts to upgrade Bishop International Airport. In 2022, he announcedover $3 million in funding for the Bishop International Airport to repair a terminal roof. As part of Fiscal Year 2025 Community Project Funding, Kildee requestedan additional $4.5 million for the airport to make necessary safety and accessibility improvements.
