Whitaker Park Grand Opening

The City of Buena Park, in collaboration with the Buena Park School District is pleased to announce the grand opening of Whitaker Park on Wednesday, August 7 at 9:00am. The public is invited to join us for the grand opening event that will feature a ribbon-cutting ceremony, contests, field games, crafts and more. This new 3.2 acre park is located at 8401 Montana Avenue on the campus of James A. Whitaker School and offers a variety of amenities for the community to enjoy. Guests can explore the playground with STEM focused elements, shade covered exercise areas, sports courts (basketball, pickleball and fraction ball), restrooms, covered picnic area, butterfly garden, open turf area, group seating area and ¼ mile walking path. This park has come to fruition thanks to a $3.19 million California State Parks Proposition 68 Grant and partnership between the Buena Park School District and City of Buena Park. Following the grand opening, Whitaker Park will be open to the public after school, on weekends and during school breaks. We look forward to the public enjoying this new and exciting recreational space.
