The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Lottery and the Brazilian Embassy in Mexico today unveiled the commemorative ticket for Lottery Draw No. 2818 marking the 190th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Brazil, celebrated on May 30th.

The event was led by Pablo Monroy, Director General for South America at the Foreign Ministry, representing Foreign Secretary Alicia Bárcena; Manuel Camacho, Public Relations Manager, representing National Lottery Director General Marco Antonio Mena; and Fernando Coimbra, Brazilian Ambassador to Mexico.

The commemorative lottery ticket is part of the 2023-2024 "Mexico in Brazil and Brazil in Mexico" Dual Year program, an initiative launched by both foreign ministries. The program includes cultural promotion and exchanges, educational cooperation, technical and scientific collaboration, economic promotion, and sports exchanges. It also addresses areas of common interest such as food security, climate change mitigation and social wellbeing.

In his remarks, Director General Pablo Monroy said, "This new phase in our bilateral relationship stems from the convergence of our presidents' decisions and their shared vision of constantly pursuing equality, justice, and social wellbeing."

"Mexico and Brazil are moving forward together, benefiting not only our countries but the entire region. Our bilateral relationship is characterized by friendship, mutual respect, cooperation and greater integration," he added.

Ambassador Fernando Coimbra highlighted that the 190th anniversary of diplomatic relations comes at a time of significant progress in the relationship between the two countries. He noted the strengthening of cooperation in areas such as sustainable development and trade, which demonstrates the political alignment between both governments and their readiness to continue working together to benefit their peoples.

Manuel Camacho explained that the National Lottery, as one of Mexico's oldest institutions at 254 years, maintains its commitment to raising funds for social causes. The proceeds from lottery sales contribute to government-sponsored programs in education, infrastructure, and healthcare, specifically targeting the most vulnerable segments of society.

He also noted that lottery tickets are an excellent way to raise awareness of socially, culturally, and historically significant topics throughout the country. The ticket unveiled today features the 2023-2024 Dual Year and commemorates the 190th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mexico and Brazil. The 2.4 million tickets issued showcase the joint work and collaboration between the two countries to further strengthen their ties.

Announcing that the National Lottery will achieve historic sales in 2024, Manuel Camacho said that Lottery Draw No. 2818 offers a grand prize of 17 million pesos in two series, with a total prize pool of 51 million pesos. The draw will take place on Friday, August 23, at 8:00 PM.

Tickets commemorating the 2023-2024 Mexico-Brazil Dual Year are now on sale at over 11,000 locations throughout Mexico and at alegrialoteria.com. The draw will be broadcast live on the National Lottery's official YouTube channel, Sorteos Tradicionales.
